About Sorgvry House of Guests
Welcome to Sorgvry House of Guests. Where Germany meets South Africa in style, elegance, friendliness and superb hospitality. Sorgvry, meaning "carefree", is exactly what we, the owners, Uwe Meyer and Carel Neugebauer, intend for you to feel at our guest house.
The house offers three guest rooms, two large cottages and one garden cottage. Certain accommodations have a private bathroom with a hot tub, and others have bathrobes and free toiletries. Some rooms include a sitting area where you can relax. A terrace or patio are featured in certain rooms.
Enjoy a delicately prepared home cooked dinner after your travels, cooked specially by Uwe, who has a passion for cooking with fresh seasonal vegetables from their allotment at Sorgvry. Dinner is a three course meal, served from 7pm up until 10pm. Light lunches, as well as tea and cakes are served on a beautiful terrace, overlooking their magnificent garden.
The town of Barrydale has only a few shops, but somehow always seems buzzing. You will never meet more friendly, charismatic and eclectic residents. With so much to do, one night is just not enough. Tradouw Wine Farm serves a delicious alfresco deli lunch and wines that are out of this world, by Meyer Joubert, an award-winning winemaker. Then, stop in for a taste of traditional brandy and wine, at one of South Africa's top pot still brandy producers at the Barrydale Cellars.
