What to do in the area? The Wood bush forest is the second largest indigenous forest in South Africa. There are numerous hiking trails in the area. Visit the local cheese farm and see how they make cheese and go for a walk through the small mountain village, Haenertsburg and browse the small shops – the local Kiwi preservatives is a must. Enjoy tea at the Magoebaskloof hotel or Pekoe View with their spectacular views. Have a picnic at the Debegeni waterfalls. There is an abundance of birdlife in the indigenous forest of Magoebaskloof. Guided birding and fly fishing trips around the area can be booked at the local tourist office in Haenertsburg. Horse riding, Kloofing/Canyoneering, Rock Climbing or Abseiling can be arranged through local guides. There are also lovely guided 4X4 trails in the Wolkberg mountains, where one can visit awesome waterfalls, large caves and have beautiful vistas.Â
What to do if it rains? Lie in front of the fireplace and enjoy the ambiance! Play games or read a book. Drive down the mountain to the Big Boabab Tree and Modjadji Cycad Forest. Visit the Agatha Crocodile Farm or have tea and nougat at the Coach House! The Kruger Park is only 90 minutes from here! Just enjoy the company of your family and friends!

★★★★★ Pavetta is stunning. While there are a few maintenance issues that need attention, none of them affected our stay. The rooms were impeccable and the house a pleasure to live in for 4 days. The children enjoyed the rowing boat and games room as well. The only criticism is a separate outside entrance for the downstairs rooms.

★★★★★ We had a lovely stay , found the room configuration a bit awkward, as the main room had two single beds made up, problem was my kids are both over 20 , and the rooms below were snapped up by the other family, so my kids ended up in the lounge. Beautiful setting, conveniently situated. We were a group ranging in age from 20-58
